Boating Safety 101
- Always check the weather and stay up to date on what the radar forecasts. Storms can form very fast in wet season.
- While you are on the water you must obey all Maritime Laws, Navigational Aids, Manatee Zones, Slow and Idol Zones and stay in marked channels. The canals of Cape Coral are no wake zones.
- The operator must have been born on or before January 1, 1988 with a valid drivers license from their country of residence. You must also have some experience operating a boat. If born after January 1988 you will need to pass a Florida boater safety course.
- Any person operating a moving vessel on the waterways while consuming alcohol is subject to the same laws and fines as driving your vehicle on the roads. If you want to consume any alcoholic beverages we recommend that you arrange for a designated driver/operator.
- Fishing requires a Saltwater fishing license.
- Always be aware of where people and objects are in relation to the propeller. NEVER have the engine on and running with people in the water.
